Comparison of Home Security Systems

Home security systems are on the rise each year and it is no surprise that big brand names offer a wide range of systems to suit individual requirements and budget.  Among those names are Honeywell, Sony, General Electric, or GE and Optex.

Honeywell and Ademco
Honeywell has a relationship with a wide range of products marketed under different brand names. For example under the brand names Ademco they provide Control Panels, Keypads and DIY Kits.

Honeywell monitors millions of homes and commercial properties around the world.  They supply their home security systems through a network of trained professional dealers.  They are considered an industry leader and have managed through technology to offer greatly improved home security systems.

Honeywell claims to be easier to install than many other systems on the market and offers quality construction that can last for many years.  Their products are also designed to work in harmony and ease with one another.

Their list of products are designed to offer a full and complete system when installed and consist of keypads, control panels, sensors, wiring, full alarm kits and add on modules.  They also offer a full range of camera surveillance which can be viewed remotely over the internet as well as video recorder cameras.  Their systems are popular as they offer the ability to manage and switch between multiple cameras.  Apart from being reliable and effective, Honeywell home security systems are well priced.

Honeywell’s Ademco range offer a reliable and affordable wireless DIY system called the Ademco Vista Alarm Kit.  It is easy to install and offers a full range of add on security features to suit even the most security conscious.

General Electric
The name GE has long been a household brand in the appliance market. They have expanded their technical knowledge to include a range of security systems that offer many desirable features.   While not yet available in some parts of the USA they are gearing up their production.  They currently offer many systems; some with unique features such as the X10 IntelliHome.  This system offers the unique solution of being able to use of an existing 220v power line to communicate its signal.   They also offer a Fast Pack Alarm System Kit which offers the basic features and is cost effective while their  RX-1000/TX-1000 wireless system offers a passive infrared motion detector sensor.

Sony Surveillance
Sony offers good quality security surveillance cameras.  Sony is a trusted brand in electronics. Their dome camera is popular for applications that demand discretion.  Yet they also offer more traditional home security cameras which provide high resolution black and white images.  Their security cameras offer dual power supply so you won’t ever suffer an interruption of power. Their new offering is a network camera for use in web monitoring and web casting applications.  It offers remote monitoring through the internet also.

However it is good to note that surveillance equipment is not an alarm system.  What wireless cameras do instead is send a silent alarm to law enforcement.  The element of surprise is often what is needed to catch perpetrators red handed.  When teamed with a wireless installation, Sony cameras are the answer.

The Optex Range
Optex have a reputation of being a leader in outdoor security systems.  Their latest concept called the BX-100Plus “BoundaryGuard” Outdoor PIR offers a photoelectric detector for outdoor installation.  This system is geared toward protecting doors and windows and is able to detect forced entry even before the attack.  Their break-glass detectors are able to stop burglars in their tracks.

They are also considered to be a leader in the field of infrared detection suitable for both residential and commercial use.  Optex is manufactured in Japan and holds the distinction of being the first company in the world to adapt technology prevalent to both the medical and military fields for use in residential and commercial applications.  They offer a full range of home security systems which use the latest innovations and up to date technology including alarm kits both wired and wireless.
